In 1912 it sold four times as many electric vehicles as internal combustion vehicles! Getting an internal combustion engine to work was a complicated job and required a lot of physical effort. The reason that the internal combustion car became more popular was the invention of the starter by Boss Kettering; from that moment on, anyone could get the engine up and to work. The car was cheaper and then people started buying more internal combustion cars.
